Pilgrims, clergy come to Bethlehem for Christmas

Thousands of tourists, pilgrims and clergy converged on Bethlehem on Friday as the town of Jesus' birth prepared to celebrate Christmas Eve.

Boy Scout marching bands played in Manger Square, just outside the Church of the Nativity, which Christian tradition identifies as the site of Jesus' birth in a stable two millennia ago. Pilgrims lit candles inside, and Palestinian policemen deployed around the town to keep the peace.

"This is where Jesus Christ was born and walked the earth. So I just want to walk the same earth," said Mary Healy, a tourist from Independence, Missouri, who said she was in Bethlehem for the fourth time.

The Roman Catholic Church's top clergyman in the Holy Land arrived in Bethlehem in a traditional procession from Jerusalem just past midday. Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal was to celebrate Midnight Mass later at the church, the peak of the holiday's events in the town.

As he entered Bethlehem, Twal expressed his traditional wishes for "peace, love and unity among us."

But on an unseasonably warm winter day, when temperatures approached 70 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius), he added another wish to his list, "which is to ask God to send us rain and winter besides peace and justice and dignity for all."

The normally rainy autumn and winter season in the Holy Land has been warm and dry — raising fears that the water shortage plaguing the parched region could worsen next year.

Christmas carols are sung throughout the Christmas festive season all the way up to the New Year celebrations. Christmas carols relate to Jesus, the winter season, the festivities and the like. Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Reportedly Getting Married Dec. 11!

What exciting news! Nicole Richie, 29, and Joel Madden, 31, are reportedly tying the knot Dec. 11 at Nicole’s father Lionel Richie’s house in a small “winter-themed” ceremony. “Nicole is obsessed with the season,” a source tells Us Weekly.

Preparations are already underway. On Dec. 3, the tables and chairs were delivered and more moving trucks were spotted at Lionel’s house Dec. 7.

“A stage is being built over the pool in the backyard so the guests will have more space to dance,” another source tells RadarOnline.com. “It’s kind of cool because people will be dancing on top of the water.”

Nicole even made a trip to NYC on Dec. 3 to be fitted for her Marchesa wedding gown.

“Nicole brought her stylist Simone Harouche with her,” an insider tells Us. “A lot of thought went into her dress — it was a priority for her.” “She’s deciding between two dresses: Marchesa and vintage Chanel,” adds another source.

Joel and Nicole have decided to keep the guest list tight. “Mindy [Weiss, the wedding planner] called all of the guests personally,” a friend of the couple tells Us.

“She didn’t invite a bunch of her celeb friends,” an insider explains to RadarOnline.com. “This has apparently upset a bunch of people.”

But certain stars like Christina Aguilera and Lindsay Lohan’s ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson will most likely be in attendance.

Nicole’s 2-year-old daughter Harlow will be the flower girl, and Lionel will escort Nicole down the aisle. Nicole’s best friend, Masha Gordon, will be her maid of honor and Joel’s twin brother, Benji Madden, will serve as best man.

Russell Brand 'wants to drink Katy Perry's breast milk'!

The funnyman made the comment at his show last night at London's Hackney Empire.

Brand was telling the audience about a former fling and new mum who used to let him drink her breast milk.

He quipped that his soon-to-be missus Perry 'doesn't mind'.

'She likes it which bodes well for the first pregnancy,' he added.
Brand also joked that he'd ditch his future wife for her pop rival Lady Gaga.

The comedian told the audience that he liked that Perry was 'sexy' and 'desirable to others'.

'Frankly, if she lost them I'd be on the phone to Lady Gaga,' he said.

The comment is sure to go down like a lead balloon with his soon-to-be missus, who has rubbished Gaga on Twitter in the past.

Perry took to the social networking site to slam Gaga's raunchy video for Alejandro, which saw the kooky singer involved in some intense bondage manoeuvres and gobbling rosary beads while dressed as a nun.

She tweeted: ‘Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.’

Brand's show was part of a promotional tour for My Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal - the follow-up to the comedian's first volume of memoirs.

Gosselin Kids Ruin Christmas!

The little Gosselettes are a bunch of Grinches! The Gosselin kids have reportedly been getting into trouble at school because they’ve been telling their classmates that there’s no Santa Claus. With kids as young as 6 getting the bad news about Kris Kringle, RadarOnline reports that daddy Jon Gosselin, 33, has been getting a barrage of angry phone calls from furious parents.

“The kids don’t believe in Santa Claus, and they’re telling other kids at school that there is no Santa Claus,” a close friend of the family tells RadarOnline, who adds that Jon “has received many phone calls from parents because the kids actually told others that ‘your parents are lying to you’ causing them to get upset.”

An insider says Kate lied when she said the kids weren’t expelled from school. They were!

This is the latest in a long line of trouble that the Gosselin kids have been getting into at school. Kate Gosselin, 35, has denied that two of her children — sextuplets Colin and Alexis — were expelled from school, but did finally admit on The Today Show that the 6-year-olds “were having anger issues,” and that the pair have been removed from school by “mutual agreement” and are now working with private tutors.

No one is revealing which of the Gosselin kids spilled the beans on Santa, but after a family conference, the kids apparently agreed to keep a lid on the myth-busting. Luisana told Entertainment Tonight Canada she wants to have “four or five kids,” but it doesn’t sound like Michael is in too big a hurry. “I would like to start off with sea monkeys first and see if I can keep those alive,” he laughed. While he’s taking baby steps there, Michael’s wedding plans sound pretty huge. The couple, who are marrying on April 6, are having two ceremonies. “We are doing one in Argentina and that’s for her close family, and then we are doing one in Vancouver,” Michael revealed.

Michael jokingly told the Today show that he had to reschedule his nuptials: “I was going to do it on [April] 29th, but figured I wouldn’t get any press,” referring, of course, to the wedding date set by Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Britney Spears Wants Sole Custody Of Her Two Sons!

It looks like Britney Spears is ready to be a full-time mom again. The 28-year old singer reportedly wants to take over sole custody of her two boys, Sean Preston, 5, and Jayden James, 4, from ex-husband and former back-up dancer Kevin Federline, 32. The exes have joint custody of the kids but they live with their dad. Britney would apparently like to change that and have the boys live with her and boyfriend, and former agent, Jason Trawick.

“It’s getting harder and harder for her to hand the boys back to Kevin after each visit,” a source close to the pop star told Closer magazine. “Britney dreams of marrying Jason and having the kids live with them — she’d even like to have more children too. The problem with this, though, is that Kevin has no intention of giving up custody. While the relationship between the two is amicable (word is that Kevin gets along well with Jason and thinks he’s a good influence on Britney), Britney currently pays Kevin $15,000 per month in child support. She has apparently offered to continue these payments even if she were to get sole custody, but he has refused. “He’s told her she can visit them every day but there’s no way he’s handing them over full time,” the source said. “But he’s told her he fears she’s still too unstable and could go off the rails again.”

Kevin may have a point as TMZ is reporting that Britney is likely to remain under a conservatorship next year. She was placed under the care of her father, Jamie, in January 2008 after suffering a meltdown that led to her being held in a psychiatric ward at an LA hospital.

Insiders say that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are so fired up about their love scenes that they are pushing for “tasteful but extremely sexually charged nudity” in Breaking Dawn! According to OK! magazine, producers may have to censor some of the stars’ suggestions. The action may get so hot that the the fourth installment of the Twilight series may no longer get a PG-13 rating. “They’re demanding that their big sex scenes will really push the envelope,” a source tells the magazine.
