Jennifer Lopez as dinner lady

Despite her past as a backing dancer, Jenny from the Block is instead being targeted for her serving and culinary skills for a stint on the super popular Fox show.

The show's creator Ryan Murphy revealed his big kitchen plans for JLo, 40, saying: “We are writing a role for Ms Jennifer Lopez, who we love.”

"We want her to be a cafeteria lady.”

JLo's supper will only add to the growing popularity of the high school music from the aspiring underdogs in the Glee club.

Following its UK premiere on E4 last week, five tracks from the series stormed the weekend's Top 75 charts.

The cast's rendition of Journey's Don't Stop Believin' has climbed to No 5 after Joe McElderry breathed second life into the 1981 original during X-Factor.

And the high school series is already cleaning up with awards after the show took home the best TV musical or comedy gong at Sunday's Golden Globes.

Actress Jane Lynch dedicated the prize to the show's youngest and most famous fan so far, three-year-old Suri Cruise.

She said: "This is a really bright child, I know she is exceptional and wears kitten heels…and she's very old for her age, so I take that as a compliment."
